What is DOKKAN?
Dokkan is a professional knowledge and contacts network of experts, academics and professionals who wish to share their knowledge, solutions, ideas and experience and, at the same time, encourage learning between companies, employment sectors and social sectors. Dokkan ensures that effective methods are disseminated and presented in an organised manner.
The inspiration for Dokkan
Knowledge is incredibly valuable, is often expensive to obtain and is then frequently underused. Dokkan’s policy is to develop the most powerful knowledge network in Iceland, where practical and theoretical knowledge is shared and disseminated for the benefit of the business and economic sectors and for the community as a whole.
How does Dokkan operate?
There are 20 cores, or disciplines, operating within Dokkan. Each discipline generally meets on average every 4 to 6 weeks over the winter months, usually in the morning. The meetings take place within companies and public bodies. The project manager for each discipline organises their agenda, which is usually based on lectures delivered by group members or other matters of interest. Each field, however, is free to organise itself in the manner its members see fit.

How do I become a member of Dokkan?
In most cases, companies and public bodies become members of Dokkan with the payment of an annual fee, the amount of which is based on the number of their employees. As soon as a company or public body has become a member of Dokkan, all employees receive full access to all the work of professional groups within Dokkan, free of charge.
